Play for Change becomes charity partner for Sportel America 2015
London, Tuesday 11 November 2014 – Play for Change Charitable Trust (PFC) has joined forces with Sportel America to raise awareness of its mission – to empower children and young people through sports and education as well as to raise funds to invest in life-changing projects around the world.
Sportel America, the world sports content media spring convention, due to be held in Miami in March 2015, will see hundreds of attendees from leading international sports organisations including broadcasters, leagues, federations, agencies and leading sports journalists.
As part of the new partnership, Sportel America has made available a direct donation option during the online registration process where those registering to book a stand or to attend can donate the exact sum they wish. This will also automatically enter attendees into a lucky draw to win exclusive signed sports merchandise and event tickets. All funds will go straight to the charity to invest in projects that focus on helping children in need.
Some of the charity’s milestones include a two-year partnership with a children’s home in Indonesia, which saw the official launch of YKPA Play for Change, and the 2013-14 PFC Internship programme for young graduates in Vietnam where it invested $25,000.
The future of the charity promises a winning streak with projects on the horizon such as the
2015 launch of the PFC school football tournament in partnership with the Belgium Pro League, and ‘Slam Dunk’, the new basketball programme for young girls in one of the toughest boroughs in London – Hackney. In addition, PFC will begin a new partnership with ASLOD, a Milan-based local charity that focuses on helping children living with cancer through rehabilitation.
Shifa Becher, Director of Play for Change, said: “We are thrilled with this new partnership as without doubt it will elevate our charity onto a truly global media platform. This will present us with a great opportunity to share our story, gain new members for our supporters club, and potentially launch new projects with new partners.
“It is with many thanks to Sportel that this association will further strengthen our international voice and commitment to helping children through sports and education.”
