Earlier in 2015, Play for Change partnered up with the Belgium Pro League to launch the Play for Change Pro League Schools Cup, a series of school tournaments set to take place over three years.
Organised in partnership with the Belgium Local Government, a local school was selected to represent each of the 16 Pro League Clubs taking part. Lead by Play for Change, this collaboration was developed to improve community and social integration, and to encourage awareness and fair play for children whilst building confidence and team-building through football.
Last weekend saw 16 Pro League School teams gather from across Belgium to play at Waasland-Beveren Stadium in the final tournament. They all had one aim in mind – to win the Play for Change Pro League Schools Cup, and the Play for Change Fair Play Cup.
With a cheering crowd supporting all the competing teams there could only be one winner! The Play for Change Pro League School Cup was awarded to Het Molentje Basisschool, a school in the city of Lier representing the local football club SK Lierse. And, the Play for Change Fair Play Cup winners were, De Panda Basisschool, a school in the city of Gent representing the local football club KAA Gent.
