Rene Valencia a committed supporter of Play for Change recently competed in the heroic and physically demanding Spartan Race 2015 where he conquered 30 obstacles over a 7km course lined with fire pits, barbed wire, and a lot of mud.

The most important element of this race was that Rene raised funds for Play for Change to help us with our re-development plans in Nepal, supporting vulnerable children caught in the devastating Nepal Earthquakes.

Rene says about his achievement: “Thank you to you all for supporting me with raising funds for Play for Change, the sports charity for vulnerable children. It’s a really great cause and the funds raised will has help victims of the recent earthquake tragedy in Nepal, through Play for Change. Together we raised around £1,000, which will make a big difference to the lives of many, who have been left with very little.

“The Spartan Race was a lot of fun, and I managed to finish 211th out of 3000+ competitors. More importantly, I had a top 20 finish for my age bracket (i’ll let you guess what that was).
A special thanks to my biggest supporter Magda for organising all the fundraising and for being there at the finish line!

“More Spartan Races to come! And remember… there is always something out there that is bigger than our every day lives. Take care and thanks again.”
