Providing a safe environment where street children can access education, sporting activities, food and healthcare empowering them to secure a better future.
We housed 38 children across two orphanages in safe, age appropriate living environments with access to food, water, healthcare and education.
Many of the children were illiterate as they were forced to beg instead of going to school. This project offered them a safe place to get education and qualifications.
Sporting activities were organised, including dance, swimming and surfing classes.
As well as art session, sewing workshops and other edu-entertainment activities
We also provided a safe house to help women and children in need of protection and healthcare from domestic violence, sexual abuse and homelessness.
Furthermore we provided critical healthcare, food and basic needs support to families living in remote villages
Context
Many of the children and communities in Bali live in extreme poverty and can suffer from severe health problems. There is also a lack of education and employment which forces many children to resort to the streets to bring money back for their family.
A large scene of street kids has developed in South Bali and these children become vulnerable to exploitation in many ways, including sexual abuse, crime, drugs and child labour.
